Bringing out the best in us

We all want to bring out the best in us. I wonder if you are aware of your strengths and talents?

All too often we “pretend” that we are not quite aware of them.

Pretend? I will explain what I mean in a minute.

What are things that other people often praise or appreciate about you?

We are usually very good at giving to others, but very unpractised at receiving or giving to ourselves.

When we are praised, we “pretend” to be “humble” and refuse to receive it.

How come is it so difficult to accept our good points and strengths?

Because we won’t be able to stay in a comfort zone once we accept our greatness!

It is a normal human tendency to stay in a zone that we don’t need to challenge ourselves so that we can avoid anything that may evoke anxiety.

As long as we stay in a comfort zone, we will just continue doing things that we know we are capable of.

Our unconscious avoidance against the acceptance of our greatness stems from our unconscious fear of realising our full potential.

The biggest block against actualising our dreams often hides behind a deep belief that “I am not worthy enough to receive blessings that my desires are fulfilled.”

Dreams won’t come true if we have a belief that holds us back from bringing the best in us.

So today, I want to introduce a simple work to bring the best in us.

Please prepare a pen and a sheet of paper.

Think about your strengths, positive attributes and talents that other people often tell you.

Please also include strengths that you are already aware of.

You can ask you friends and family too.

If you are used to being “humble” and refusing to receive compliments from others, you may find this work quite challenging.

When you do this work, pay attention to your spontaneous response – how do you feel when you hear compliments, for example?

Unsettling

Tingling

“I’m not that good”

“I need to work harder”

Observe your spontaneous response with curiosity 🙂

Recognising your spontaneous response is the first step towards realising a life you want to live.

Steps for this work are as follows:

  1. Think about your strengths, talents and positive attributes and write them down
  2. Look at what’s written
  3. Say it out loud again and again so that you feel more comfortable
  4. Share it with your family and friends

By the way, I’ve just done it for your reference 🙂

The purpose of this work is

to accept our greatness

to receive compliments

to decide to bring the best in us.

The accepting of who we really are means the accepting of all of ourselves.

This means that we accept our greatness as well as our darkness.

We may need a repeated practice to truly accept our greatness and feel ready to fulfill our potential.

I practice meditation every morning. I use this dedicated time to refresh what matters in my life including my strengths and passion for life.

I strongly feel that when I make a dedicated time for myself this way, my heart and action become congruent. My life opens up in the best possible direction that I desire.

Everyone has your unique talents and strengths.

It’s my hope that each one of us enjoys demonstrating our specialness in a way that is most natural and true for us.
